Alaska Airlines Moonlit Departure

When flying on an Alaska Airlines flight you need to be aware of the carry on luggage policy. This may allow you to skip the baggage checking process and the fees that go along with it.

Alaska Airlines allows each passenger to carry on one bag as well as one personal item. This may not sound like a lot, but for many people it is more than enough to get to their destination without having to check a bag.

Carry on bags are not permitted to be larger than 10″ H x 17″ W x 24″ L. In most cases this should be plenty big enough. To go along with this, you are also allowed to carry on a personal item which can be a purchase, laptop computer, briefcase or something similar. At least one of these items should be stowed beneath the seat in front of you.

Certain items do not count towards your carry on limit. They include strollers, coats, hats, umbrellas, assistive healthcare devices, child seats, and reading material. If you are unsure of what you can and cannot bring on board, call the airline in advance.

Being aware of Alaska Airlines carry on luggage policy will make your flight much more enjoyable, and hopefully less expensive.

Continental Airlines Boeing 737-924 N32404

When you carry on your luggage you can avoid long lines and lost time at the check-in counter. Of course, you need to be aware of Continental’s carry on policy before you move forward with this. There are some items that you are allowed to carry on, as well as others that must be checked.

Carry on bags must meet the following requirements set forth by Continental:

1. Bags must not exceed 45 linear inches when adding the length, width, and height.

2. Bags are not permitted to weigh more than 40 pounds.

Continental allows passengers to carry on one bag and one personal item. Personal items can include the following: purse, briefcase, camera case, laptop computer, personal entertainment device, or other similar items.

Personal aid items such as canes, braces, and wheelchairs are also permitted to be carried on if the passenger is dependant on them for their safety. If traveling with an infant, one item, such as a diaper bag, stroller, or other type of child seat is permitted.

If you keep Continental’s carry on luggage policy in mind you may be able to reach your destination without having to check any bags. Imagine the time and money that this would save!

Airfare Prices Dropping

Nov-25-2008 By

If you are planning to travel soon, the good news is that you can expect to pay less money for airline tickets. Due to a number of factors, a few surveys have found that airline tickets are down in price approximately 20% since July.

The main reason for the drop in price is the dropping cost of jet fuel. Since July, the cost of jet fuel has been cut in half. Just like Americans are paying less at the pump in recent months, the same can be said for airlines.

A second reason for the drop in the prices of airline tickets is the fact that less people are flying right now. This is mostly due to the current economy forcing companies and individuals to save money by traveling less.

The final main reason is also economy based. With families and businesses not able to pay top dollar for tickets, airline companies have had to adjust and make their ticket prices more affordable to everyone.

If you are planning to travel at any point in the next few months, buying your airline tickets now makes a lot of sense. You can get the discounted rate locked in so you don’t have to worry about how the prices could fluctuate. For example, if jet fuel prices start to rise, airline companies will have to respond by raising the prices of their tickets once again.

To go along with airline ticket prices, frequent travelers are also proclaiming the hotel prices and rental car prices have also become cheaper in recent weeks.

If you’re considering a trip abroad you should actually register with the State Department for your own safety. Sure, it seems like a bit of overkill and maybe it is, depending on where you’re traveling, but no matter how insignificant you think you are in the grand scheme of things, the State Department actually cares. If you register your travel plans this gives the government a way to contact you in case there is a family crisis or you’re needed and can’t be found. It also gives the government a way to contact you in the event that some sort of crisis is about to occur or has occurred where you are traveling.

Registering with the State Department is both free and easy and it just requires a few minutes at their website.

If you’re worried about big brother, keep in mind that the Privacy Act provides for your personal privacy and your welfare and whereabouts will not be released to any other person who may request them unless you have given your express authorization.

This is an exceptionally useful travel tip for anyone who will be traveling abroad for an extended period of time. If there is an emergency back home or where you are vacationing, it’s better to have the State Department on your side in case you need to make a hasty retreat.

Looking to keep up to date follow our travel news.
